What families say
76 families have written to us about their doula. These are their words, unedited.
Allison was amazing and we cannot recommend her enough. She was able to pitch in and help out when our daughter arrived a bit earlier than expected, and immediately put us at ease as we handled those chaotic first few days home from the hospital. She was wonderful with the baby, who immediately warmed up to her. She was also great at caring for the whole family - checking in on my postpartum recovery, giving us both helpful tips on how to care for a newborn, and generally making our lives easier. Any family with a newborn would be lucky to work with her!
As first-time parents, we were overwhelmed with the arrival of our newborn. Having Kim as our overnight doula was a game-changer. She was incredibly caring and knowledgeable, always prioritizing our son’s safety. We felt completely at ease knowing he was in her capable hands. Kim patiently answered all our questions and provided invaluable guidance during those early days. We highly recommend her to anyone seeking compassionate and expert newborn care.
Our family was lucky enough to match with Katie as our doula in the spring in 2025. Katie helped our family adjust to a family of 5 (older boys 6 and 4) after I had an unexpected emergency c-section with our daughter. Katie’s Help in the evenings and overnights was invaluable for my recovery from surgery, as well as mental and emotional transition for the whole family. Not only did Katie take care of our daughter at night so we could get more sleep and be rested, she picked up all kinds of slack around the house including cleaning and laundry. She did this often without being asked, knowing what was needed without needing to be told. Katie loves newborns!! She’s a pro, as a mother of 5 girls, she knows what

she’s doing. I would recommend Katie as a doula to anyone, especially families in need of overnight support and support with newborn care.
Jen was our day doula for several weeks after our daughter (third child) was born. She was absolutely amazing! Jen brought joy and calm to our house each day she came! She helped our family in so many ways during those difficult first weeks of transition! Jen helped care for our daughter so we could get some rest in after long nights. She also helped with laundry and dishes which was so appreciated. She was a calming and happy presence in our house that just made everything easier. Could not recommend her enough!
I found mother’s helpers about seven years ago and it’s been life changing for our family. We have nicknamed the company “Mother’s Mentors” Karen has a qualified loving team that has enabled priceless bandwidth and joy in our lives. I recently told a surgeon with an infant at home that services like these probably “save lives” I hope all professionals that need to take care of others can get support from a company of this caliber. We all know children need lots of time and love. Think of it as an investment in humanity’s future.
We are so thankful for Lauren’s support during the first two months of our baby’s life. As a 3rd time mom I was especially worried about how sleep deprivation would affect our ability to show up for our older two children and be able to enjoy the newborn phase of what is likely our last baby. The nights we had Lauren care for our son, we slept soundly knowing he was in loving and experienced hands. Lauren always made sure to check in with how we were all doing and made great suggestions which were always appreciated. We highly recommend Lauren and will be forever grateful for her help!

Questions parents ask us
What does a postpartum doula actually do?
A postpartum doula cares for you and your newborn after the birth. That means infant care and newborn education, help with feeding and soothing, cleaning bottles and pump parts, storing milk, baby laundry, and guidance on sleep. Just as much of the job is looking after the parents: checking on your recovery, answering the non-medical questions you did not want to bother the pediatrician with, and giving you room to rest.
What is the difference between a postpartum doula, a night nurse and a night nanny?
Many times, the terms are used interchangeably. Postpartum doulas have specific training, are constantly updated on changes in best practice, and are certified in infant and child CPR. What you can expect from us is complete baby care, newborn education, checking in with you on both your emotional and your physical recovery, feeding support, breastfeeding support, and the practical work that piles up around a newborn.
What happens during an overnight shift?
Your doula arrives in the evening and takes the night. If you are breastfeeding, your baby is brought to you for feeds and settled back to sleep afterward. If you are bottle feeding, your doula handles the feeds so you do not wake at all. Bottles and pump parts are washed, milk is stored, baby laundry is done, and you wake up to notes on how the night went. Overnight shifts have an eight hour minimum, up to 12 hours.
When should I book a postpartum doula?
Most families reach out during the second trimester, which gives you the widest choice of doulas for your dates. You get to choose your doula! That said, we regularly place postpartum doulas on short notice after a baby has already arrived, including families who did not expect to need help. If your baby is already here, call; we are always happy to help.
Do you work with family fertility and pregnancy benefit programs like Carrot, Maven or Progyny?
Yes. We are accepted providers for Carrot, Maven and Progyny. Coverage differs by employer and plan, so start with both your and your partner’s benefit offices to find out which benefit you have and the postpartum coverage amount. We will then be able to help you maximize your postpartum care benefit when you contact us.
