Night doula, night nurse or night nanny?
Families search for all three when they want someone to care for their newborn overnight. “Night nurse” and “night nanny” are older terms; typically what people are actually looking for is a postpartum doula. Our night doulas are certified postpartum doulas: trained professionals who take the night, bring your baby to you for feeds or give bottles, settle your baby safely, and leave you notes in the morning. You choose your doula. Overnight care is $55 to $75 an hour, 8 to 12 hours, with no extra fees.
Who our doulas are
Karen, the owner, is a Certified Postpartum Doula. Our team is made up of experienced certified postpartum doulas and newborn care specialists, all certified in infant and child CPR. Mother’s Helpers has been licensed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts since 1991 and is bonded and insured.
You choose your doula. Karen matches you with doulas who fit your family, and the choice is yours.
Rates
Overnight postpartum care is $55 to $75 an hour. Shifts are a minimum of 8 hours and can run up to 12.
We’re an accepted provider for Carrot, Maven and Progyny. Postpartum care is also reimbursable with an HSA or FSA. We don’t bill insurance directly, but we can give you a receipt if your plan covers it.
Where we work
We provide overnight care in Boston and Greater Boston, MetroWest, the North Shore, the South Shore, and Central and Western Massachusetts. We also serve Rhode Island and southern New Hampshire. If your town isn’t on our list, reach out anyway. We may still be able to help.
When to book
Most families reach out during the second trimester, which gives you the widest choice of doulas for your dates. We also regularly place doulas on short notice after a baby has arrived. If your baby is already here, call us.
